Message Requests: Sorry, Is This Drama Still Available? 🤣

Today, while driving back from lunch, I randomly remembered something that happened years ago, and I started laughing to myself. It’s one of those stories that’s still funny to me because of how ridiculous the whole situation turned out to be.

This goes back to around 2016. Apparently I was scrolling LinkedIn and looked at someone’s profile, although I couldn’t tell you why. You know how LinkedIn suggests random people? Sometimes you recognize a name, notice a mutual connection, or just get curious about why someone is being suggested. So you click. We’ve all done it. It’s LinkedIn, not a marriage proposal. 😂

Well, apparently, clicking on this particular woman’s profile raised some questions because we had a mutual connection. Unbeknownst to me, that connection was her husband, someone I had worked with years earlier at ADP.

Fast-forward to around 2024. I came across a Facebook post explaining that messages from people who aren’t your friends sometimes end up in a hidden message requests or spam folder. I had no idea this existed, so naturally, I decided to check mine.

And let me tell you, I found some entertainment in there.

Apparently, this woman had sent me a message back in 2016 asking who I was, why I had looked at her LinkedIn profile, how I knew her husband, and whether I was involved with him. The message had been sitting there unread for approximately EIGHT YEARS.

Meanwhile, I had absolutely no idea I’d been a suspect in somebody’s marriage. 😂

Of course, I responded. Something along the lines of, “LOL, I’m so sorry I’m just seeing this almost ten years later, but your message went to spam. I honestly have no idea why I looked at your profile. You probably came up as a suggested connection, but no, I was not involved with your husband.”

And guess what? SHE RESPONDED!

She was completely embarrassed. Apparently, she and her husband had since divorced, and she’d discovered that he had been cheating with multiple women. She admitted how ridiculous she felt for reaching out to some random woman over a LinkedIn profile view.

Now, I genuinely felt bad for her because clearly, her suspicions weren’t unfounded. She just had the wrong woman. But imagine having moved on with your life, only to get a response EIGHT YEARS LATER from someone you once accused of sleeping with your husband.

I would’ve wanted to throw my entire phone away. 😂

But here’s where it gets funnier. That hidden Facebook folder had another little surprise waiting for me.

Apparently, another woman had messaged me years earlier about a guy I’d briefly dated. And by briefly, I mean we may have gone on TWO dates. Apparently, he had been trying to make his girlfriend jealous by telling her I was messaging him or something along those lines. So she took it upon herself to send me a message politely asking that I stop contacting her boyfriend.

Girl, WHAT boyfriend? I barely knew the man! 😂

Now, years later, they’re no longer together, and he’s apparently married with children. Meanwhile, I’m just discovering that I was somehow involved in yet another relationship drama I knew absolutely nothing about.

Naturally, I took a screenshot and sent it back with something along the lines of, “Well, this is awkward. Guess that didn’t quite work out, huh? LOL.”

Was that a little petty? Maybe. But I couldn’t resist. 😂

And listen, I’m not judging anyone for doing a little investigating. I’ve done my fair share of social media stalking, and I understand that some men will give you every reason to be suspicious. I’m certainly not above getting curious and looking someone up.

But ladies, there’s a difference between looking and actually hitting SEND. Because imagine confronting some random woman, moving on with your life, and then having to revisit that moment eight years later when the woman wasn’t even involved in the first place.

Moral of the story? Investigate all you want, but think twice before sending that message. You might have to explain yourself to someone who doesn’t even know she’s part of your investigation. 😂

And apparently, Facebook’s spam folder has a better memory than all of us.

P.S. Check your message requests. You never know what kind of old drama might be waiting for you in there.
